It's no secret that the popular Music Television network MTV has been more like RTV (Reality Television) for quite a while now.
Well, officially, MTV has finally stopped claiming to be "Music Television" all together. They will keep the same logo as before, they're just dropping the 'Music Television' from under the famous MTV logo.
Yesterday it was released that MTV is dropping all signs of "Music Television" from their logo.
This blogger's response?
It's about time they stopped pretending and realized (haha...small joke...) what they have become.

It's been over a decade since MTV has been anything even remotely close to music television, especially since the hostile takeover reality TV had over networks ten years ago. Since then shows such as 'Jersey Shore', 'Real World' and '16 and Pregnant' have taken over, successfully nudging all signs of MTV's legendary music video slots out of the way.
Though we all knew this was coming, part of me is mourning the loss of a once great source of new bands and artists, music news and breakthrough music videos (the relevance of which is debatable. We'll get into that another time).
The 1960s had the dawning of the age of Aquarius. Yet again, 50 years later, the dawning of a new era is upon us Generation Y kids. MTV is no longer Music Television. Supposed Reality TV is taking over the airwaves, the option of autotune deteriorating the quality of musicians and the option of instant gratification is programming us in nothing but negative ways.
Whatever will the next ten years bring us? Where are we going? What are YOUR thoughts, dear readers?
Keep on rocking in the free world,
Jenna
